First Baptist Christian Academy would like to congratulate Miss Sophia Grace Lormand and Miss Olivia Lee Shepherd on receiving the Student of the Year awards for fifth and eighth grade! The winners were selected after completing an interview and impromptu writing topic that allowed them to demonstrate their academic achievements, leadership qualities, citizenship, and poise. The fifth grade winner, Sophia Lormand, has attended FBCA for four years, and has won multiple awards for academic achievement, conduct, citizenship, and physical fitness. Self-described as curious, creative, and committed, Sophia enjoys volunteering at her church's youth camp, supporting FBCA's 4-H club as the club's reporter, and performing ballet with the Lake Charles Civic Ballet. With her passion for helping people in any way, Sophia hopes to one day become a pediatrician and continue to share God's love with others. The eighth grade winner, Olivia Shepherd, has attended FBCA for seven years, and is known for her diligent, compassionate, and competitive attitude. Olivia has accomplished volumes in her 14 years; at FBCA she has been on the honor roll for five years, participates in BETA Club and Honor Choir, and is the president of FBCA's 4-H Club. She has also won countless awards by showing cattle in different competitions both near and far, and is Louisiana's current Angus Princess. With her caring spirit, Olivia enjoys helping the homeless with her family and hopes to become a nurse practitioner in the future. Comments are closed.
