6th, 7th and 8th grade students took turns at lunch break last Thursday for a sneak peek at some chickens...still in their shells. Mrs. Singletary brought one of her incubators, set it up in a dark closet required for candling the eggs. Students were able to use an egg candler to view developing chick embryos that had been incubating for 4-6 days! The embryos were all located successfully, and we had smiles all around! It takes 21 days for fertile eggs to develop into peeping chicks, so we are anxiously awaiting hatch day! Mrs. Thornton is following up some science lessons which coincide with this "egg-citing" experience. We will let you know how many peeps we get on Hatch-day!
