I grew up in church. I tried to be a "good girl". At the age of 13, God revealed to me that I knew a lot about Him, but I didn't have a personal relationship with Him. I had not realized that although I was "good" by the world’s standards....I was a sinner and my sin separated me from Him. I knelt beside my bed and asked Him to forgive me and be my Lord and Savior. Later in college, God called me to serve Him in some way; so I went to seminary after graduating from college. Still not sure of what He wanted me to do, I moved back home and became involved in teaching Purpose Driven Life at Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center as well as teaching a ladies Sunday School class and helping however I could around church. Several years later He showed me that He wanted me to go overseas to serve Him. I moved to Paramaribo, Suriname in South America for four years to serve as the Chaplain at International Academy of Suriname. And now He has called me to FBCA!!!
I attend worship at First Baptist Moss Bluff, where I get to serve in the 4 yr. old Small Group, participate in the Angola prison ministry and love to help chaperon youth weekends and trips. When I’m not working, I enjoy sewing, quilting, baking, other crafts and helping others to make, paint, fix or create. One of my favorite things about FBCA is the opportunity to be a part of these kids’ lives. I’m honored to teach them about God and His truth. There is no greater joy than to hear these kids put into practice the things they have learned at school and are "walking" out in their daily life. My life verse is: Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven in perfect. In other words as the The Message version puts it.....“In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.” It is all about Him!!!! |
